Uganda Cranes international first choice goalkeeper Denis Onyango on Sunday signed a new 3 year extension contract at South African league champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

An official club statement confirms;

Goal Keeper, Denis Onyango has signed a 3 year contract extension at Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club

The move comes as a shocking development since Onyango has virtually played second fiddle behind Zambian goal keeper, Kennedy Mweene for much of the time at the Chooklop.

The contract extension means the towering Ugandan born goalkeeper will his stay with Sundowns until 2018.

Sundowns recently held a successful mini-camp in Mpumulanga and are set for domestic season as well as the CAF Champions league.

Onyango, one of the longest serving players on the current Uganda Cranes team is set to feature in the CAF Champions league as his name appears among the list of the club players submitted to the continental body’s headquarters for the 2015 engagements.

The competition for the number one slot in the goal posts at Sundowns is still stiff with first choice Kennedy Mweene and Wayne Sandilands still impressive.

Onyango’s commitment means head coach Pitso Mosimane is assured of the best competition ahead of the league and continental football.

Onyango has previously played for Sharing Club, Nsambya, Police F.C, SC Villa, St George (Ethiopian side, SuperSport United and the Mpumalanga Black Aces.
