Zambia succumbed to a 2-1 loss to Tunisia in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations on Thursday despite their first half dominance in the group B encounter.

Yassine Chikhaoui’s 89th-minute winner helped Tunisia come from behind to win 2-1 after Zambia had broken the deadlock through Emmanuel Mayuka’s strike in the 59th minute.

Tunisia equalized through Ahmed Akaichi in the 70th minute before Chikhaoui salvaged the win with a late header.

Zambia Captain Reinford Kalaba went close three times with threatening strikes from the edge of the box but Tunisia Goal Keeper Aymen Mathlouthi denied him before saving Stoppila Sunzu’s.

Kalaba remained the main threat and he later crafted Zambia’s breakthrough 14 minutes after the break, having broken through three defenders to pass to unmarked Mayuka.

Mayuka strikes from 6 yards before Tunisia levelled with Akaichi found the back of the net off a corner at the back post.

Tunisia now leads Group B with 4 points while Zambia is 3rd with one point.

Zambia will close their group stage with an encounter against Cape Verde on Monday while Tunisia will play DR Congo on the same day first.
