Plans are underway to invite World Number 1 golfer Rory Mcllroy, to visit Uganda in the future when he gets time to squeeze time in his busy golf schedule according to former Uganda Golf Union president Amos Nzeyi.

“I met Mcllroy recently when I took part in the Dubai Desert Classic after playing a round of golf with him,” Nzeyi said this morning at the Uganda Golf Club in an exclusive interview. “He told me he wants to come to Uganda to see Mountain Gorillas in the Bwindi Impenetrable forest and also see other tourist attractions in the country.”

The Dubai Desert Classic is held annually and the chairman of Crown Beverages Nzeyi, has been a regular  visitor at the  event for the last three yeas he has also rubbed shoulders with some of the best professional golfers on the PGA tour who take part in this prestigious tournament.

“I would like him to come to the country and play a round with our amateur and professional golfers and East African golfers from this region when he does come to the country,” Nzeyi added. “He is a player gives alot of attention to his game, but at the same time he is very down to earth and a very warm person.”

Nzeyi, will be working closely with the Uganda Golf Union to see that the world number 1 golfer in the world visits Uganda at a time when he feels it’s right for him to come over and spare sometime outside his tight golf schedule.
