All Africa Games Qualifier:
Uganda U-23 (Kobs) 0-0 Mozambique
Playing away from home remains a tricky experience for many teams and one of the most intriguing away result is that draw that involves no goals scored.
Uganda Under 23 side faces an uphill task ahead of the return leg against Mozambique in the All Africa Games Qualifier in Kampala following a 0-0 draw in Maputo.
We shall travel back to Kampala and plan for the away match. It was not very easy away from home with a large crop of first time players on the international scene but we shall plot for the second leg and seek qualification
Micho, the team’s head coach spoke on 102.1 FUFA radio shortly after the match.
The side had Uganda Cranes understudy goal keeper, Isma Watenga and its skipper, Farouk Miya who were the most experienced players with midfielder, Gaddaffi Kiwanuka and left back, Brian Ochwo with ‘some’ exposure having played CAF club football in 2014 with KCC and SCVU respectively.
The rest of the players were virtually first timers with continental football action.
There were chances created but not converted and Micho with the technical team will have to seek quick answers as the second leg fast approaches in a fort night.
Good enough, the KCC and URA players who did not make the trip away will be available for selection after their respective CAF Club duties this coming weekend.
Striker, Julius Malingumu who failed to make the trip at the last moment is expected to be tested well ahead of the match especially so after his pending passport issues are fast sorted in a record time.
Micho may also be prompted to look at the foreign based players who fall within the same age category.
The Uganda Kobs return early Monday morning aboard Kenyan Airlines and resume training on Wednesday.
