FIFA President Sepp Blatter has insisted that the 2022 World Cup final in Qatar should be played no later than December 18.
Sepp Blatter says the World Cup final in Qatar in 2022 should be played no later than December 18 just a few days after a FIFA Task force recommended the tournament be held in November-December.
The changes are yet to be appreciated worldwide but as the task force reasoned that way to avoid soaring temperatures in Qatar in the traditional World Cup months of June and July.
The notion was opposed by the some of the major domestic leagues around Europe, although UEFA and the Confederation of African Football expressed their support for the move.
According to reports, the proposed date for the final was December 23, just two days before Christmas, but Blatter appears to have ruled out such a late date for the showpiece.
“We have to stop at the 18th,” he said.
