Four Uganda Beach Volleyball teams will on Thursday evening depart for Cairo ahead of the first round sub-zonal games to vie for the remaining two slots for the African Zone-five second round of the qualification process to the Rio Olympic Games later next year.
The beach cranes in both genders will tussle it out with hosts Egypt alongside Sudan, Eritrea and East African neighbors Rwanda.
National Coach Meya Sam will lead the contingent and believes Uganda will make its mark in both genders although he contends that stiff competition will be the order of each game.
Meya named eight players to the Cairo Squad from his top stars in the local Castle Lite National Tour.
The team will be accompanied by International Referee Robinson Tumwesigye aboard Egypt Air while UVF General Secretary Joyce Achan currently in Cairo will represent the contingent at the technical meeting Thursday afternoon.
Confederation of African Volleyball made it a point to get more Nations on the qualification process by holding several rounds across the continent
