Africa junior athletics champion Joshua Cheptegei, has set his eyes on the World Cross Country Championship in Guiyang, China on March 28 after winning a 10,000 gold medal at the Africa Junior Championships in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia last week.

“I headed back to Bukwo, to join the national team preparing for the world athletics championships,” Cheptegei, said after returning with team Uganda from the Africa Junior Championships in Ethiopia. “My focus now is on the World Cross Country Championships where I will be seeking to win another medal for the nation.”

Uganda finished ninth out of 39 Africa nations with Uganda’s other medal winners being Stella Chesang, Bronze medal in Junior Women’s 5,000 meters race and Suzan Aneno, Bronze in the Junior Women’s 800 meters other Uganda athletes on the team included Geoffrey Balimumiti  and Esther Chebet.
