Final: KIU Titans 67-61 City Oilers

The KIU Titans won the inaugural KIU Invitational Basketball tournament. The hosts beat the league champions 67-61 under the flood lights behind a balanced team effort.
Inspired by the home crowd, the Titans beat Oilers for the second time in the 2-day event having edged them in the groups 72-69 on the tournament’s opening day.
Chris Omanye had 18 points, Edwin Katerega added 15 points and new addition Norman Blick chipped in with 9 points to pace KIU to victory in the tourney that was perfectly organized.
“We want to build a fan base and a brand for the team. We know we have so many fans here and when we bring such tournaments here it does that,” the tournament organizer, Nasar Serunjogi said.
Kami Kabange and Jimmy Enabu scored 20 and 19 points respectively for City Oilers and new signing Landry Ndikumana had 9 points.
“It has been about building a team and building a brand for the team. It has been a perfect tournament and everybody has been commending it. We have put on a good show,” Serunjogi said.
Meanwhile, Power took third place following their 67-65 edge of Ndejje University Angels behind Joseph Ikong’s 15 points.
Sudi Ulanga added 12 points and Paul Mwaka contributed 10. Jonah Otim and Francis Tumusiime scored 18 and 17 points respectively for Ndejje.
The next edition of the tournament will have eight teams.
“We will be having this (tournament) every year and we shall add on two more teams next year to make it eight,” Serunjogi told Kawowo Sports.
