Uganda hosts their first ever beach soccer competitive match in history against the Ghana in the 2015 CAF Beach soccer qualifier.
The match at Sports beach in Entebbe will be the first leg with the return expected on 22nd March 2015 in Accra.
Uganda got a bye to this stage after the withdrawal of Cameroon from the championships citing unpreparedness.
Ghana on the other hand is one of the African beach soccer playing seeded nations that skipped the preliminary hurdle.
At stake (after the aggregate two legs) is a slot to next month’s final championships of the CAF Beach soccer event already confirmed in Seychelles.
A close scrutiny at the two team’s players straight away indicates a complete mis-match.
Whereas the Ghanians are tall with well built muscles, the Ugandan players are the complete opposite.
Uganda has had two convincing victories in the international build up matches (against Zanzibar and Kenya) whereas Ghana was fortunate to land an invite at Africa’s most prestigious beach soccer event early March in South Africa.
Ghana arrived in the country barely three hours to the kick off but the players and officials on the team sounded confident of an away victory.
Uganda’s team has been in a residential camp in Entebbe under coach Harunah Kebba with the players led by skipper, Derrick Tekkwo also promising to die a little for their motherland.
We respect our opponents but that does not mean we fear them
Tekko is quoted in one the interviews in the run to the game.
His Counterpart, Michael Sema has also vowed to put up spirited fight despite reaching 2 hours to the game.
