Kyambogo Football Club’s great run in the 2014/15 Uganda Cup continued as they claimed their place in the last 16 on Sunday.

The university based club overcame FUFA Big league side, The Saints F.C after a 0-1 victory at Nelson Mandela Stadium.

Ben Okello scored the day’s only goal that sunk The Saints F.C at their own home ground.

Kyambogo had earlier caused one of the cup’s upsets when they eliminated Premier league club, Vipers at the round of 64 in a thrilling 9-8 penalty victory that followed a barren draw.

In the other fixture on the day, Hoima District’s fast growing football club, Airtel F.C lost 2-4 on post match penalties after a goal-less duel defeat at the hands of Premier side, Police F.C at Kavumba recreational stadium.

Normal time had ended in a barren draw after the 90 minutes before penalties were called.

Kirungi Junior and Alinda Herbert Billy scored before Ivan Kasese and Jafali Bin Iddi missed their kicks as Police F.C scored all their penalties.

URA is the defending champion of the cup, whose winner represents Uganda at the CAF Confederations Cup.

The cup champions are however yet to play their round of 32 fixture against KCC since they are engaged in the CAF Confederations cup fixture with South African giants, Orlando Pirates.

“We shall fix a date for that match (URA vs KCC)” Ali Mwebe of the FUFA Competitions confirms to Kawowo Sports.

Orlando Pirates beat URA 2-1 in the opening leg played on Saturday at the Orlando Stadium in Johnnesburg, South Africa.

The draws for round of 16 will be conducted at FUFA House in Mengo on Wednesday, 18th March 2015.
