Individual awards at the just concluded 33rd edition of African Volleyball Championships in Sousse,Tunisia were one side as North African players claimed all of the top honours.

With debutants, KAVC and three time representatives Nemostars at the continent putting up poor shows, Ugandan players were absent in any of the nominated top performers.

Ahly’s Ahmed Kotb was voted the Most Valuable Player of the tournament, as his displays contributed a big piece towards his team’s title claim.

Ahly beat Esperance of Tunisia to take home their 11th record title in history, at the prestigious event that hit the climax on Monday evening.

Meanwhile, Uganda’s flag bearers fought for positions and managed to get them.

KAVC and Nemostars finished the continental showpiece ranked 19th and 22nd respectively out of the 24 teams that featured in the tournament.

The two clubs are expected to return in the country on Wednesday.

Best Setter: Mahadi Ben cheikih (Esperance)

Best Server: Hossam Youssef (Al Ahly)

Best Blocker: Marten Costa (Zamelk)
