2015 Jinja Sports Festival:

Kick-Off: 4th April 2015

The 2015 Jinja Sports Festival has been launched at the YMCA (Jinja Branch) conference hall on Monday.

Addressing sports journalists during the 2 hour event, Pastor Moses Ssemambo reminded the nation of the need of sports promotion in line with serving God.

The purpose of this sports festival is to promote sports talents among the youth in line with glorifying God

Sporting Disciplines:

Several sporting disciplines have been lined up for competition among the different teams within Jinja Municipality and its peripheries.

A cycling race will kick start the festival on 18th April 2015.

This will be followed by a charity Gospel Road race from which the proceeds from the race will be geared towards the rehabilitation of sports facilities within Jinja.

A shepherd coaching seminar involving several sports federations has been also lined up as a mechanism to improve upon the standard of team administrators.

The festival will be climaxed with soccer, netball, volleyball, boxing and other games from the 11th to 21st June 2015.

We expect to use Kakindu, Tobbacco, Jinja S.S, Main Street, Community center and St Jude playing grounds throughout the festival

Registration Procedure:

Several registration points around Jinja Municipality have been set up for the purpose of prior planning with a fee set up for individual and teams.

Registration Points:

Tango Sport (Gokhale Road, opposite main street primary school), Ebenezar Stationers (Narambhai road opposite Cuppa Arts Gallery), O.P F.M Radio, Oboja road opposite Evangel Church and at Oasis of Life Miracle centre church Spire road.

The purposes of the festival among others include; instilling the fear of love of God in the participants, to plant ethics of discipline and respect as well as promotion of teamwork and unity of purpose.

This is the second City sports festival after the Kampala Sports Expo, that was organized by Kampala Central Member of Parliament, Muhammed Nsereko in February.
