Uganda’s top tennis player Duncan Mugabe, warmed up for his trip to Egypt with a easy win over Uganda Tennis Association president Cedric Babu on Center Court at Lugogo with a straight sets 6-1, 6-1 victory infront of a big crowd at the tennis clash.

Mugabe who was playing Babu, for the first time won the clash in approximately 1 hour as the crowd cheered every game that Babu won and every time he engaged Mugabe on the court.

“I really started playing the ball late and that was my biggest disadvantage,” Babu stated. “I was happy with my game and also happy that Mugabe came out to play in this event, but at the same time am happy that several youngsters and people came to support the game of tennis.”

Mugabe, will be leaving for Cairo, Egypt to play in a Futures tennis tournament as he continues to build-up towards the All Africa Games in Brazzaville, Congo in July.

Mugabe is an All Africa tennis bronze medallist and will be vying to win a gold or silver at the next games.

The tennis clash was organised by Kinetic Management and sponsored by Skol Beer, Mythos Greek Restaurant, Kololo, Silk Events, Rwenzori Water and Pepsi.
