Namibia 144/8 (20 Overs)
Uganda 147/8 (19.4 Overs)
Uganda won by 2 wickets
Uganda’s Cricket Cranes have won their third game (and second consecutive) at the Pepsi ICC T20 championships. Uganda managed to put up a very good show against tournament favorites, Namibia at the ongoing tourney.
Namibia won the toss and elected to bat first but struggled to get to 144 runs losing 8 wickets in due course. Sarel Burger tormented Uganda’s bowlers with clean 43 off 37 hitting two 6s and three 4s. JJ Smit hit three 6s for 18 off 7 balls for the Namibians.
Uganda’s run chase started on a rather bad note as the first wicket fell with just 24 runs on board. However, Shahzad Ukani Kamal (30) and Arnold Otwani (25) stabilized the game for the Cricket Cranes. Sebanja put up 24 off 13 balls before he was run out but skipper Brian Masaba’s 22 not out got Uganda over the line with 2 balls to spare.
Uganda face Ghana tomorrow in search of a win to make the Global T20 Qualifiers in Scotland. Uganda will automatically through the second place if Kenya beat Namibia otherwise it will come down to the run rate to determine teams that have qualified.
