Zone 4.2 Africa Chess Championship

Burundi is the latest country to confirm participation in the upcoming Zone 4.2 Africa Chess Championships to be held in Kampala, Uganda from 17 to 26 April 2015.
“Burundi Chess Federation President, Deo Mtagasigumwami has indicated that at least one player, Wilfried Ntamatungiro has been confirmed to make the trip to Kampala” a statement released by Uganda Chess Federation (UCF) reads.
Ntamatungiro is no stranger to this event as he also participated in last year’s zonal event held in Cairo, Egypt.
Burundi joins Egypt and Tanzania who have already confirmed participation. Kenya is expected to send players in both male and female categories.
Egyptian Grandmaster El Gindy Essam (rated 2469) and International Master Hesham Abdelrahman (rated 2399) will participate in the Open category. Other Egyptian players to participate in the ladies category will be Eman Elansary (rated 1865) and Ehab Tasneem (rated 1690).
Moroccan International Arbiter Abdelfattah Akkour was confirmed as the one to be in charge of arbitrating at the tourney by the Africa Chess Confederation President, Lewis Ncube.
