Cranes and KCCA central defender Savio Kabugo on Wednesday underwent an operation at Kololo Hospital.

Kabugo who has not been in action since December 12, 2014 against Bright Stars in Lugogo, had both his shins operated on.

“I had stress fractures, and they worsened during Cranes games, they later resulted into broken bones,” Kabugo told Kawowo sports.

Although he has been out for a while the former Proline Soccer Academy player is optimistic about returning to action sooner than expected though there is no stipulated time to that

“Am sure I will be back, stronger and better, because those are the challenges and setback we face as sportsmen. I will keep one working with my upper body as I wait for my legs to recover” Kabugo added.

Kabugo was a pillar in all the six group matches Uganda Cranes played as they tried to qualify for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations finals.

But the Kamwonkya born and bred footballer is most remembered for his winner against the Black Stars of Ghana at Namboole

“Am so grateful for what my family has done to see me get operated, most especially Ivan Bukenya” he said.

Ivan Bukenya is Kabugo’s brother who plies his trade with South African giants OKaizer Chiefs, but relatives Susan Naluwaga, Olga Namatovu, Araft kajjubi and Ronnie Lusulire all played a part for the operation to happen
