Uganda joined Kenya as the other nations to win the 21st Africa Zone VI golf championship on their home turf at the Uganda Golf Club this afternoon as they broke South Africa’s dominance at this team golf tournament.
South Africa, who were tipped as the favourities before the tournament started have won a record 19 titles and were seeking a 20th one, but Uganda battled with the South Africans from day 1 till the final round to break their duck at this tournament and also join Kenya, who beat the South Africa away in Botswana in 2010.
Uganda won a total of 18 and half points in total to beat South Africa by just one point while Zimbabwe finished third with 16 and a half points while Kenya finished fourth with a total of 15 and half points while Swaziland and Zambia finished joint fifth with 9 and half points.
