Uganda Cup Quarter Final:

SC Victoria University 0-1 Sports Club Villa [After Extra Time]

Isaac Muleme’s extra time penalty condemned former servants, Sports Club Victoria University out of the 2014/15 Uganda Cup as Sports Club Villa defeated the home side 0-1 in a quarter final duel played at the Nelson Mandela Stadium on Sunday.

After a barren opening regulation time, the game was pushed to extra time since both teams had failed to find the back of the net with a series of missed opportunities.

SCVU team skipper, Martin Mpuuga was adjudged to have handled the ball in the forbidden area and day’s referee never hesitated to point to the spot inside the last 30 extra added minutes of play.

The penalty decision was bitterly protested by the home team players and one player, Farouk Kawooya was sent off for ‘unsporting conduct’ in the process.

On the same day, KCC overcame Kyambogo, a non Azam Premier league side 1-4 in FIFA Post match penalties after a barren draw in the 90 minutes and the extra time added.

SC Villa joins KCC, Lweza and BUL football clubs in the semi final bracket.

In the other earlier quarter finals, Lweza overcame Police 1-0 at Uganda Clays play ground in Kajjansi and BUL came from a goal down to defeat Bright Stars 1-2 at Matugga as KCC beat Kyambogo 1-4 on penalties after a 1 all draw.

The winner of the Uganda Cup represents Uganda at the CAF Confederations cup.

The semi final draws will be held at FUFA House during the press conference of Wednesday, 22nd April 2015.

At the same conference, the host venue of this year’s finals will be communicated.
