Kenya’s national vice captain Nelson Simwa from Vet Lab golf club and John Karichu, from Limuru Country Club have turned professional after playing their last game for their nation at the recent Africa Zone VI golf championship at the Uganda Golf Club.
“This is the last event for me here and as an amateur golfer,” Simwa stated at the end of the Zone VI golf championship. “I wanted to turn professional even before coming for this tournament, but I wanted to first represent my country first.”
Karichu, who was the Golfer of the year winner 2014 also will be turning professional, but will be playing out of his club Limuru Country Club.
The two golfers were part of the Kenyan national golf side that included 16 year old Matthew Wahome, Kenneth Bollo, who was making his debut for the national team, Bhavnish Chandaria(captain), Alfred Nandwa, Robinson Owiti, William Odera, Justus Madoya.

Kenya winners of the Africa Zone VI golf championship finished fourth with a total of 15.5 points in a tournament that attracted nine African nations.
