The tiny nation of Swaziland, will host next year’s 22nd Africa Zone VI golf championship after the president of the Uganda Golf Union Kiryowa Kiwanuka handed over the mantle to the next hosts after Uganda hosted a successful event that saw them win it for the first time on their home soil.

“We will have to match what you have done here we are raise the bar further it has been a great tournament and good week of great golf which will have to put up when we host next year’s event,” Sibusiso Motsoa, the Swaziland golf team official said. “Uganda raised the bar here at the Zone VI tournament and we have to raise it higher I can say the standards of golf in the Zone have risen and that is good for the game of golf, but it can get better and better if the resources are their.”

Uganda won the tournament for the first time with 18.5 points while the 19 times winners South Africa was second with 17.5 points while Zimbabwe finished third with 16.5 points

Uganda become only the third country to win this tournament with the other being Kenya, who won it in 2010 in Botswana.

Swaziland tied for fifth with Zambia 9.5 points. Swaziland was represented by Sifiso Vilane, Jabulane Mabaso, Nkosinathi Tsabedze, Wilard Mkhwanazi, Sanele Myeni, Sabelo Myeni, Sabelo Maseko, Vusumuzi Dlamini, James Pennington.
