Caddies are integral part in the game of golf just live motor rally navigators are to motor sport so caddies from all over the country will battle it out at the second edition of the Jinja Caddies Open at the par 72, Jinja club on April 27.

“It’s going to be bigger and better than the first edition and we are expecting caddies from Kenya and Rwanda this time around,” Abbey Bagalana, the organiser of the tournament said at a press conference this morning at the Uganda Golf Club. “There lots of trophies to be won and also our sponsors will be giving out StarTimes decoders.”

The tournament is sponsored by NBS Television, Kerussi International and Pinnacle Security Limited. Last year’s Blue Jacket winner David Samanya, from Jinja Club will have to battle hard to retain his jacket.

“It’s gives us a privilege to sponsor this tournament and it’s not the first time we are going into sports we have sponsored and shown basketball being the first television to show live league basketball together with golf,” Joe Kigozi, the marketing manager of NBS Television said at the launch. “It is important to support this tournament as these caddies are key in the game of golf as they play a major role helping golfers and at the same time they eventually graduate to become full time golfers.”

Last year’s tournament attracted 55 caddies from Namulonge, Jinja, Lugazi, Kampala, and Entebbe this year’s entry is expected to be bigger. Prizes for the tournament include Gross winner, Men and Women, Junior winner boys and girls.
