Uganda has entered a team of seven national swimmers for the CANA Zone IV swimming championships that is be held in Luanda, Angola from May 6-9.
The team will be captained by Avice Meya, and will have Kenya based trio of Nabil Saleh, who is the Uganda Sports Press Association swimmer of the year 2014, together with his brother Fadhil Saleh, Ambala Atuhire, others on the team are Tendo Mukalazi, Kirabo Namutebi, Adnan Kabuye and Josiah Sempa they will be coached and managed by Muzafaru Muwanguzi.
Uganda who last year hosted Zone III and IV swimming championships at Kampala Parents School won a total of 11 gold, 6 silver and 9 Bronze medals finishing sixth out of 11 nations that took part.
“We hope to return with a haul of medals this time around however it would have been better if we had a bigger squad, but due to lack of resources we had to send a small team that we believe will return with good results,” Muzafaru Muwanguzi, the coach of the national said at the flag hand over ceremony on Friday. “I believe we can return with a much better position than last year.”
Nabil Saleh, last year won a total of 7 gold medals for Uganda while Kimberly Hind won 4 gold and 3 silver medals while Rebecca Ssengonzi had 3 silver and 2 bronze.
