Uganda’s top tennis player Duncan Mugabe, recovered from last week’s upset by Nigerian qualifier Clifford Enosoregbe by overcoming a Nigerian qualifier Lawal Shehu 4-6, 7-6(5), 6-3 in the Nigeria F2 Futures tennis tournament that is going on at the Package B National Stadium in Abuja, Nigeria.
The Ugandan tennis ace had to dig deep to overcome the Nigerian losing the first set, but recovering to take the next two sets to advance to the next round where he is expected to meet the winner between unseeded Aaron Cortes Alcaraz from Spain and the seed 3 Tucker Vorster from South Africa.
Uganda’s number 2 tennis player David Oringa was set to battle with Croat seed 5 Matija Pecotic in the first round in what is believed to be his toughest test at this tournament.

Mugabe is using the tournament as a build up ahead of the All Africa Games in Brazzaville, Congo where he will be vying to retain his Bronze medal or thus go one better by winning a silver or gold at the Pan African Games and next year’s Rio Olympics in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.
