2015 Copa Coca Cola National Football Championships:
- Finals: St Marys’ Kitende 4-0 Masaka S.S
- Third Place play off: St Joseph Layibi 0-2 Risah Standard, Lugazi
St Marys’ Boarding School, Kitende walloped Masaka S.S 4-0 to lift their 8th schools title at Boma ground in Hoima on Saturday.
In what will remain as one of the most one sided finals ever in the history of the national post primary schools championship, an on fire Kitende side that built confidence as the tournament progressed completely side stepped Masaka S.S in the finals.
The well attended game kicked off in slight drizzles that the mammoth crowd and players endured.
As early as the opening 60 seconds of the game, Pius Muzee Wangi had already fired the Entebbe road school ahead with a shot from an acute angle over 40 yards out.
Towering forward, Alfred Leku doubled the lead on 11 minutes after a goal melee to spark wild celebrations across Boma play ground.
By the opening quarter an hour of action, the writing was surely on the wall, Kitende was the only team on mission for the day and an 8th title looked eminent.
Masaka had not made any attempt at the Kitende goal and needless to add, the latter’s goal keeper, James Ahabwe had not even touched the ball.
Uganda U-17 lead striker, Muhammed Shaban registered his name among the day’s scorers with a great solo effort in the 23rd minute.
Masaka made quick changes on the break, replacing the calamity goal keeper but Muhammed Shaban welcomed the new custodian with the best strike on the day.
Leku dribbled towards the corner flag, he made a pin point cross that Shaban tapped first time to double his personal tally.
Masaka then had to lay strategies on how to limit the damage and less was offered in attack.
Joseph Janjali, usually the team’s talisman shot wide once in what seemed to be the best chance for the side.
This is the third time that Masaka is losing in the finals, following the 2003 loss in Lira and ironically the most recent 3-0 defeat to St Mary’s Kitende in the 2007 edition that was held in Jinja.
Earlier in the day, Risah Standard Lugazi beat St Joseph College, Layibi to take third place.
Coca cola identified 81 brilliant players that they officially handed over to FUFA for close monitoring.
