FT: Ajax Cape Town 0(3) – 0(4) Mamelodi Sundowns
Uganda Cranes goalkeeper, Denis Onyango guided Mamelodi Sundowns to a Nedbank Cup triumph over Ajax Cape Town. After a goalless draw during normal and extra time, the Brazilians as Mamelodi Sundowns are locally known edged Ajax Cape Town 4-3 in penalties.
Ajax Cape Town started brightly in the first half with Nathan Paulse coming close to breaching Denis Onyango’s goal. Mamelodi Sundowns coach, Pito Mosimane’s troops rose to the challenge as they tested the Ajax Cape Town back-line.
The second half saw Mamelodi Sundowns dominate proceedings. They however were unable to make something of their possession. Ajax Cape Town stood tall to frustrate Sundowns throughout the second half and the extra 30 mins.
Sundowns were later able to emerge winners after Anthony Laffor, Mzikayise Mashaba, Thabo Nthethe, Bongani Zungu converted their spot kicks. Nathan Paulse, Granwald Scott and Travis Graham converted for Ajax Cape Town
