Maureen Mulangira, promoter of kick boxer, Moses ‘Of Uganda’ Golola is irked by the match fixing allegations by a section of fans in the aftermath of the match publicized fight.

Golola knocked out Thai based fighter, Wathaporn Kamunstorn within the opening 50 seconds of the fight held at Kati Kati in Kampala last Sunday to win the vacant world welter weight kick boxing belt.

Promoter Mulangira speaks before the weigh-in event at HBT Hotel in Kampala

I really wonder what kind of statements people are saying about the fight. First, the fight was sanctioned by world kick boxing federation (WKF). Secondly, knock outs are part and parcel of the boxing and kick boxing fights world over. When Golola gets beaten, people are not satisfied and when he wins, they query, what do people really want

The burly promoter wondered.

The Conspiracies:

Several schools of thought have questioned the authenticity of the Thai born fighter.

When the Kamunstorn arrived with his coach, Win Panyaparichot three days to the fight, I (author) rushed for an interview.

Unfortunately, due to a language cordon, there was a barrier to communicate directly with the fighter but his coach cum manager could use English coupled with sign signals at least to convey the intended message.

My fighter has 75 fights with 52 won and 25 knock outs

Panyaparichot revealed.

Upon probing his manager why Kamunstorn doesn’t show up on any internet search given the numerous international fights held, he shamelessly replied:

We collaborated with Google people to remove all the information about our fighter because the Golola team would spy on us”

The Thai kick boxing promoter shamelessly stated.

Perhaps, the only results that now appear of the fighter on Google search are after the fight in Kampala against Golola.

Ironically, at the weigh in event held at HTB hotel in Kampala, the Kamunstorn camp announced 70 as the total number of fights for the fighter, diverting from the original 75.

Julius Ssemugera, an ardent kick boxing fan attests; “This fight was already fixed. Look at the way the Thai fighter easily went down under the influence of ‘weak punches from Golola’. This is ‘Katemba’ and these people should stop fooling us around” Ssemugera cried out.

However, Hassan Ssekirime, president of Uganda Kick Boxing defies from the fans’ reasoning.

In kick boxing, just like boxing, a fight can end as early as the opening 5 seconds with a knock out. Golola was prepared and he planned his punches. The world’s kick boxing body and the sister federation in Uganda had sanctioned the fight

Thai Has Worked in Kampala Before:

Some sources however indicate the Thai had been in Kampala before working on a construction site managed by Zzimwe constructions in the early 2000’s before he traveled back to Thailand after allegedly establishing contacts with Maureen Mulangira.

To this allegation, Mulangira the promoter questions the credibility of that source of information.

You see, this fighter had never been in Uganda before. That is loose talk by people with selfish interests.

Moses Golola’s fights have for a long time been marred by controversy prior, during and after. The Ugandan prized Kick boxer is himself a marketing gimmick of the sport and hardly needs special promoters to publicize his fights.

The debate can only be extinguished by verified facts from World Kick Boxing Federation (WKF), whose president watched the Golola – Kamunstorn fight.
