Round of 64: SC Villa 0-0 Azam FC (SC Villa won 4-2 on penalties)
The eight time winners started the journey at home against Regional side Azam FC. However, they needed a penalty shootout to eliminate the side thanks to a barren draw in the 90 minutes which kept fans on tenterhooks.
Round of 32: SC Villa – Busia United (The visitors didn’t show up)
After overcoming Azam, the Jogoos again landed a home tie against another lower tier side in Busia United.
The side from the East didn’t show up on match day at Nakivubo and SC Villa were declared winners.
Round of 16: SC Villa 4-0 Proline FC
Lady luck again smiled SC Villa way getting another home draw against a FUFA Big League side – Proline FC.
Erisha Ssekisambu scored a brace before Ronald Muganga and an own goal sunk the former premier league side.
Quarter Finals: SC Victoria University 0-1 SC Villa
It was the first time in the run that SC Villa were pitted against a top tier side and away from home.
The Jogoos made a short trip to Namboole to face SC Victoria University on a Sunny afternoon but were made to labour to a 1-0 extra time.
Former SC Victoria University employee Isaac Muleme converted an extra time penalty after a barren draw in normal time.
It was a game marred by controversy thanks to the man in centre – Robert Donney forcing the hosts’ head coach Morley Byekwaso walk off the bench in protest of what he termed as biased officiation.
Semi-finals: Bul. FC 0-1 SC Villa (first leg), SC Villa 2-0 Bul. FC (second leg)
It was another topflight tie in the semis for SC Villa and they did the job in the most fashionable way beating stubborn Bul. FC home and away to reach a historic final.
Denis Kamanzi was the hero at Kakindu scoring the lone goal before the return leg saw goals from experienced midfield duo Augustine Nsumba and Chrizestom Ntambi.
