Uganda’s Duncan Mugabe and Burundi’s Hassan Ndayishimiye have stormed the finals of the men’s doubles at Mozambique F1 Futures tournament that is taking place at Clube de Tennis de Maputo in Mozambique.
Mugabe and Ndayishimiye beat South Africa’s Brent Botha and Germany’s David Chaplefeh Forchap 6-2, 6-3 to storm tomorrow’s final against South Africa’s Nicolaas Scholtz and USA’s Evan Song.
Mugabe, had earlier been ousted in the Men’s singles losing to Britain’s Curtis Clarke in straight sets 6-3, 6-3, but teamed up with Burundi’s Ndayishimiye to play the men’s doubles in this $ 10,000(Ug sh30.8m) prize money futures tournament.
Mugabe, is on a Olympic Solidarity Programme that is funded by the Uganda Olympic Committee to enable him to continue his goal of playing at the Olympics next year and also better his results in the All Africa Games in September.
Mugabe has played in Nigeria F1 and F2 Futures in Abuja as he seeks to improve on his rankings globally.
