It was easy coasting for Duncan Mugabe and Burundi’s Hassan Ndayishimiye last evening when the two claimed the Mozambique F1 Futures doubles crown with a straight sets 6-3, 6-4 win over South Africa’s Nicolaas Scholtz and USA’s Evan Song at the Clube de Tenis de Maputo in Mozambique.

It was the Ugandan tennis ace’s first major win in the new year and will surely motivate him ahead of a year that will see him represent Uganda at the All Africa Games that are due in September in Brazzaville, Congo, where he is the Silver medallist in the men’s singles.

Mugabe is on a Olympic Solidarity Programme that is funded by the Uganda Olympic Committee to enable him to continue his goal of playing at the Olympics next year in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

He will also have his ATP ranking improve he is currently ranked 1609 in the world.

This year has seen him play in two Futures tournaments that is in Abuja twice and will continue to play as many tournaments of such magnitude.
