Busoga University will host the 16th edition of the Association of Uganda University Sports Games from December 17-22 at their main campus in Iganga.
The official launch of the games was on Tuesday in Kampala where the university vice chancellor Ass Pro David Lameck Kibikyo revealed the institution’s competence to host a successful event.
“We are making sure that everything is in place, from the facilities to the hostels and all that one requires to have a good event,” Kibikyo told journalists.
“We are constructing a standard swimming pool, sand pitches for both beach soccer and beach volleyball,” he added.

Kibikyo was flagged by AUUS president Peninah kabenge who expressed her confidence in the eastern based university to be competent hosts.
“When they asked to host the games, we as AUUS thought they were being over ambitious but when we visited the facilities we were impressed with how far they have gone,” Kabenge said.
“We have a lot of confidence and are behind them all the way to make sure they do a good job,” she added.
This will be the second time the games are hosted outside the central region of Uganda, the first being in 1995 when Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) hosted the second edition.
Ndejje University are the defending champions while Makerere are the record holders with 11 titles. Speaker of parliament Honorable Rebecca Kadaga was the chief guest at the launch.
