As the saying goes there is no smoke without fire, it’s now official Mike Mutebi and Sam Ssimbwa will be in charge of KCC FC for the next three years as manager and assistant manager respectively.
This was made official on Thursday at City Hall, the KCCA headquarters in Kampala.
The two who have been at the club before as players first and coaches later, but this will be the first time to work together in their third stint as coaches.
Ssimbwa coached the ten time league winners in 2002 and 2009 while Mutebi handled the side in 1997 and 2004.
“They take over the management of KCC FC and we expect nothing but the best from them” said KCCA Executive Director Jennifer Musisi.
“We are very confident that they will work together with our executive and will take the team to a higher level,” she added.
Mutebi and Ssimbwa’s first task will be the Cecafa Kagame Cup next month in Tanzania, but also reclaiming the league title and Uganda Cup are obvious goals.
“We are looking forward to glorious times with them, and our commitment as usual is taking KCC where it belongs, at the very top,” said KCC chair Julius Kabugo.
“With Mike and Sam at the helm, there is no chance that we will fail to meet our goals as club,” he added.
The duo is yet to name their backroom staff though the club maintains that Abdallah Mubiru who coached the side most of last season is not yet sacked as it has been portrayed by the media.
Though Kabugo wasn’t clear whether Mubiru will continue to work at the club under the new management in in a different capacity.
