Yanga FC (Tanzania) Vs Gor Mahia (Kenya) Kick Off: 4pm

The 2015 CECAFA Kagame Cup gets underway on Saturday July 18 in Dar es Salaam with three fixtures on card but none will stand out than Yanga against Gor Mahia.

The two sides face off at the National stadium, Dar es Salaam seeking a good start to the tournament.

Yanga FC returns to the competition for the first time since 2012 when the side last won it the same country but in Gor Mahia, they face a formidable side.

Gor Mahia is assured of support from Yanga’s rivals Simba and have promised to don the white jersey on Saturday as requested by the Msimbazi.

We will definitely put on our white jersey, we have to utilize that support, and then we will go back to our usual green in the other games

Confirmed Gor Mahia’s assistant coach John Bobby Ogolla.

This has angered Yanga coach Hans Van Pluijm who attacked Simba fans reminding them that the team will be representing Tanzania in the tournament.

This is too much hate, and someone needs to talk to them, Yanga is going to represent Tanzania, everyone should be behind them as a country

Away from the stands, Pluijm will rely on Brazilian Andrey Coutinho, Rwanda skipper Haroub Niyonzima and Liberian Kper Sherman plus Taifa Stars danger man Simon Msuva in attack.

In defence, the home side will have Taifa Stars captain Nadir ‘Cannavaro’ Haroub and partner Kevin Yondani.

On the other hand, Gor Mahia FC Coach Frank Nuttal will hope the 2015 KPL campaign form is replicated in the tournament.

His side is yet to lose a game in 18 league outings but the Scot has set a quarter final spot as a target for K’Ogalo having failed to go beyond the group last year.

Burundian Karim Niyizigimana, Ugandan Aucho Khalid, ex-Rwanda star Meddie Kagere and Kenyans Michael Olunga and Ali Abondo will be key for the 1985 champions.

In the other group A game, KMKM of Zanzibar takes on Telecom of Djibouti. The two sides are looked at as the weaker sides in the group and victory for either will go a long way in ensuring they reach group stages.
