Flavia Namakula claimed her fourth Uganda Ladies Open golf championship at the Uganda Golf Club this afternoon at the par 72 Kitante course winning the event by 4 strokes and at the same time claiming the event back to back.
Namakula, won by four strokes winning with a total gross score of 229 gross and beating Eva Magala, who went into the final round as a joint leader ending her 54 holes with a score 233 gross in a tight race for the overall crown.
“It was not an easy win for me cause the course was not playing well however I was not under any pressure and was confident that I would win this tournament,” Namakula said after being handed her overall trophy. “I was calm even in situations when it looked tense.”
Namakula, has now won the Uganda Ladies Open in 2010, 2011, 2014 and 2015, but doesn’t come close to the record winner Alice Kego, who was won it a record 12 times.
Last year she beat Tanzania’s Angel Eaton, by the biggest margin in the Uganda Ladies Open golf history by 12 strokes.
Eva Magala was runner-up with 233 gross while Irene Nakalembe was third with 239 gross. The three day tournament attracted lady golfers from Zambia, Zimbabwe, Burundi, Kenya and South Africa.
