Sport-S has shown vigour and kind of gritty resilience since the start of 2015 League season. It was no different on Friday night at the Lugogo Indoor Arena in a back and forth five set encounter against heavy weights Nemostars.

Sport-S kept fighting and coming back and finally prevailed in set scores 25-19, 23-25, 25-21, 25-27, 15-9 to take their unbeaten run to seven games and ascended to the summit thanks to a better point ratio.

Behind George Aporu’s thunderous hitting, Nemostars got off to a strong start by taking the first set 25-19, before Sport- S fought back to win the second 23-25.

“In the second set they got their heads back into the game probably because of the experience they have in their team” Nemostars coach, Joseph Opio said.

After rescuing the second set, Dickens Otim and company fell down once again in third set (25-21) but rallied and leveled proceedings by taking the fourth set.

As team wants to win in a blow out, it was certainly the decider to separate the two equally fighting teams.

Nemostars, who prior had exhibited good volleyball in normal play, looked loose and relaxed at the start of a deciding set whilst Sport-S side that showed character and determination in grinding for the fifth set win.

“We came into the game knowing it won’t be easy but we kept on fighting and it is good that our efforts paid off.” Sport-S’ coach, Benon Mugisha said after the hard fought victory.

To Nemostars, the result meant that they lost their second game of the season in seven games. The other loss came against Sky.
