KCC FC lost their opening game of the 2015 CECAFA Kagame Cup against Azam and will now need to be at their best against Adama City if they are stay in the competition.

Against Azam on Sunday, the KCC FC technical staff preferred a 4-5-1 system that at times culminated into a 4-4-2 when they attacked but fielded just one out and out striker in Derrick Nsibambi.

Muzamir Mutyaba who was supposed to join the youthful forward up front with KCC FC on offensive was entirely in oblivion save for his 23rd minute shot on target from long range; an easy catch for Manula Aishi.

Nsibambi wasn’t only bullied off the ball by the three Azam centre backs led by the big Ivorian Pascal Serge Wawa but also had no one to pass to on rare occasions he had the ball.

Sam Ssimbwa has already hinted at changes as they face Adama City and hopefully, one of them will be fielding a second striker to support Nsibambi.

And this being our first game, we have also noticed some players we used that were not fit enough to have played this match. So next time, expect to see a different performance.

Truth be told, bar Nsibambi, KCC FC lacks a good finisher but in Isaac Sserunkuma, Dan Nsubuga and Tanzanian Shaban Kondo, they have big men with pace that can trouble defences and create space for the lethal Nsibambi and also attacking midfielders Tom Masiko and Muzamir Mutyaba to join in.

Azam, Gor Mahia, Al Khartoum cases in point:

So far, the trio has been excellent in front of goal as compared to their opponents and its partly down to how they set up in attack.

Gor Mahia have played with Meddie Kagere and Michael Olunga in their two games so far and the results speak for themselves; five goals with the duo scoring four.

For Azam, Stewart Hall started with Burundian Didier Kavumbagu and John Bocco against KCC FC and still complemented Bocco with another striker Kipre Herman Tchetche against Malakia. Though they have been wasteful at times, they have managed three all coming from the front men.

Kwesi Appiah’s Khartoum FC play with Cameroonian Ousmalia Baba and skipper Salah Eldin Osman Bilal and the score line against Telecom showed with the duo contributing three of the five goals.

It’s for that case that Mike Mutebi and Sam Ssimbwa field a second striker; preferably Isaac Sserunkuma to partner Nsibambi and goals will flow.
