Khartoum’s strength at the 2015 CECAFA Kagame Cup is their ability to hold onto that ball, deny the opponent possession and eventually teams give in one way or the other.
The 5-0 win over Telecom and 2-1 over KMKM are testaments to that. Gor Mahia have been looked at favourites from the beginning of the tournament and would deserve all the respect.
Khartoum cared less as their coach, Kwesi Appiah revealed that his side had actually come to play for a win.
We never came to play for a draw, we came wanting to win, I have a good team that can match Gor Mahia. They are a very good team but we planned tactically well on how to tame them, and we did a good job defensively but failed to utilize the chances our strikers got.
Khartoum created the chances and on a normal day, Gor Mahia would have been left in shambles. Appiah defended his team’s failure to replicate their first two performances.
Sometimes you get a lot of chances but if you don’t convert them, they are useless. It’s something we will have to address with my team going forward
Khartoum will play Yanga in their last group match on Sunday. Yanga is third on the five team log with six points.
