Yet to know who they face in the quarterfinals of the 2015 CECAFA Kagame Cup, KCC defeated Malakia to secure their ticket.

It was Isaac Sserunkuma on his club that scored the most-important strike just after 15 minutes.

Sserunkuma started ahead of the injured Derrick Nsibambi in the two man striking partnership with Shaban Kondo.

Hakim Ssenkumba was also preferred for Muzamari Mutyaba who just like Nsibambi is also nursing an ankle injury.

Senkumba and Ivan Ntege played in the holding role while Tom Masiko played behind the two strikers.

Sserunkuma capitalized on Ssekumba’s defense splitting pass, to chip Kennedy Santolino for KCC’s opener after 15 minutes. There was not much to write home about in the first half after Sserunkuma’s goal.

At the beginning of the second half, KCC brought on Dan Ssekabembe and Owen Kasule for Michael Birungi and Tom Masiko respectively.

Malakia’s Ramzi Sebit responded by brining on Thomas Jacob Mathew for Mahmoud Al Taher.

Ssenkumba would have doubled that lead in the 61st minute; Ivan Ntege was the provider in one of those rare penetrative moves the team made, but was denied by the goalkeeper.

The provider of the KCC’s only goal missed another sitter from a Shaban Kondo cross.

Moments later Ssekabembe didn’t help himself, with only the keeper to beat and another option of a cross for a teammate, he went for a lightweight cross straight into Santolino hands.

Tomothy Awani was KCC’s last dice, he replaced Hassan Wasswa Dazo, not the KCC’s defense under pressure or the latter struggling.

The win took KCC joint top with Azam on six points, the former occupying the summit because of a better goal difference. Azam play there last pool game against Adama City late on Saturday afternoon.
