Uganda will depart on Thursday for two international woodball championships. 

The team of three will take part in the 15th Singapore Open Wood ball Championship scheduled to take place on July 31 – Aug 2 and Malaysia Open Wood ball Championship on 4th – 9th August, 2015.

The team which consists of William Osire (2014 best corporate player), Lillian Zawedde (arguably Africa’s No.1 female woodball player) and the 11 year-old Jeff Kayongo (Entebbe Junior’s finest wood ball player).

They will travel aboard Ethiopian Airlines at an approximated cost of USD 2700 (Ugx 7million each).

The team was flagged off at a ceremonious event held at Entebbe Junior School by the Uganda Woodball Federation (UWbF) president, Paul Mark Kayongo who remarked;

We are delighted as Uganda Wood ball Federation that Entebbe Junior School has taken up the game of wood ball. We hope the school will act as a hub to spread the game to other schools in Entebbe.

Meanwhile, the three participants who will represent Uganda expressed their confidence ahead of their trip and promised to make Uganda shine abroad.

Jeff Kayongo, a primary six pupil at Entebbe Junior School noted;

I feel good that I’m going to represent Uganda. I have been practicing regularly and I hope I’ll return the best results

Woodball President, Kayongo promised to offer 10 wood ball kits to Entebbe Junior School to spread the game to other schools in Entebbe.

Uganda will be among the 23 countries that will be participating in the two Tournaments.
