CAF U-23 Championship Second Round – Second Leg:
- Uganda 1-2 Egypt
- Aggregate Score: Egypt 6 – 1 Uganda
The Egyptian national U-23 side, the Young Pharaohs have booked a slot at the 2015 Africa U-23 Championship due in Senegal.
The development follows the Egyptians’ 6-1 aggregate victory over the Uganda Kobs over the two legs. The Young Pharaohs won the return leg 2-1 to complete a double over the Ugandan counterparts.
Mahmoud Abdelmonem Abelmamid Soliman notched a goal in each half to give the Egyptians a comfort zone and celebrations by the last blow of the Central African Republic FIFA referee Jean Marc Ganamandji’s last whistle.

Abelmamid gave the visitors the lead on 11 minutes before they cautiously sat back in defence as they resorted to that quick dangerous counter on the break.
The Egyptians had started the game on a bright note when Mahmoud Salem Aly Abdelkhader broke through inside the game’s opening 60 seconds only for El Merriekh goal keeper, Salim Jamal to save the day.
Uganda recomposed and on two occasions missed close target through the lone lead striker, Fahad Muhammed Hassan and Yunus Sentamu.

The visitors deservedly took the lead when Abdelkhader raced onto a though ball to slot the ball into the net past the advancing defenders.
Yunus Sentamu would have put Uganda on level terms had he successfully rounded goalie Mossad Awad Mossad.
Soliman doubled the lead on resumption – thanks to yet another counter attack that Ahmed Mahmoud Ibrahim Hassan squared for the well stationed center forward.
Uganda’s team captain, Miya brought some smiles back to the limited home fans with a well tapped effort with 10 minutes to full time.

Egypt now qualifies to the Senegal championship with a mission to repeat their London 2012 Olympic heroics.
