Serges Pascal Wawa Sfondo won his second straight CECAFA Kagame Cup with a different club when he guided Azam to a 2-0 win over Gor Mahia on Sunday at the Tanzania National Stadium.

His first was with Al-Merrikh last year in Kigali, Rwanda when an Allan Wanga solo goal earned the Sudanese outfit their third regional title, it was their first in two decades.

I have now won two CECAFAs

Wawa reminded Kawowo Sports of his first last year before he told this writer what drives him.

Football is my life, it’s all I know, when am out there on the field I have no room for jokers, I don’t tolerate anyone who wants to play with my job

Wawa alongside Aggrey Morris and Morald Said Hussein played in Azam’s three man defense in the team’s 3-5-2 formation throughout the tournament.

They didn’t concede a single goal in six games as their attack scored a total of 11, their leading strikers John Bocco and Kipre Tchetche scored four and three respectively.

Looking beyond the CECAFA title, 29-year old Wawa has already set targets this year.

I want to win the Tanzanian league with Azam, we are a strong side and we should be able to win more league title

Wawa won two titles of the Sudan Premier League with Al-Merrikh in 2011 and 2013, Azam have also won two of those in 2013, 2014.

Senior staff writer at Kawowo Sports mainly covering volleyball, football and badminton
