The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) pardoned the suspended referees who handled the aborted Uganda cup final between Sports Club and Kampala City Council at the Kyamate play ground in Ntungamo, Kawowo Sports has learnt.
These are Robert Donney and his other assistants, Musa Balikowa (first assistant referee), Robert Bakwali (second assistant referee) and the fourth official, Brian Miiro Nsubuga, a FIFA referee.
The FUFA standing committee headed by Samuel Mpiima had communicated suspensions for the four referees effective 1st July 2015.
FUFA Communications guru, Ahmed Hussein on Monday released the list of the 124 referees that are due to hold fitness dills and these the included the ‘suspended referees’.
Upon inquiry why the names of the suspended referees appeared, Hussein clarified
The referees who were earlier suspended appealed and their suspension was lifted
Donney had himself earlier refuted claims that he had been suspended. When FUFA communicated his suspension, he told Kawowo Sports;
That is news to me. As far as I know, I am a free man. Nobody has written to me any letter nor e-mail, not even a phone call.I do not reject the ‘bad thing’ but what I will do next will depend on the time when I receive the notification
A total of 124 referees will undergo medicals and physical fitness tests in preparation for the new season.
The medicals will run on Saturday, 8th August 2015 at FUFA House Mengo with the fitness tests conducted the following day at the Nelson Mandela Stadium.
The nominated referees are the FIFA badge holding referees, beach soccer referees and the national referees from the various FUFA regions.
