2nd Vipers Invitational Tourney: Wednesday, 5th August 2015

  • 1st Match: Lweza Vs The Saints (2:30 p.m)
  • 2nd Match: Vipers Vs Maroons (4:30 p.m)
  • Both Games At St Marys’ Kitende Playground

A mammoth crowd is yet again expected to grace the second day of action at the 2015 Vipers’ Invitational Football Tournament.

Kajjansi based side, Lweza football club hosts newly promoted Uganda Premier league outfit, The Saints in the opening match at 2 p.m.

Lweza F.C won their opener on Sunday 1-0 when they defeated Vipers 1-0 courtesy of Hassan Kikoyo’s lone strike.

Against The Saints, they face a boggy side – short on experience but with a high degree of match temperament and spirited playing characters, who could virtually match up Lweza on every front.

It will be first time that Harunah Kebba (The Saints head coach) is facing Joseph Mutyaba as head coaches at these two clubs although the two clubs faced off while still playing in the FUFA Big league and they both settled for draws home and away.

Lweza F.C welcomes back their team leader and utility defender, Ibrahim Kiyemba, who has been with the national U-23 side that lost 6-1 to Egypt in the CAF qualification match.

The Saints too will see empirical forward Alex Kitata back to the side from the Kobs’ duties.

Kitata’s goes were key for the team during the promotion from the FUFA Big league back then.

The second match will witness hosts Vipers take on the free flowing Maroons F.C.

Like The Saints and Lweza with a player apiece who has been with the Kobs, Vipers will see 8 players back to the team.

Farouk Miya, Kezironi Kizito, goalie James Alitho, Deus Bukenya, Brian Nkuubi Ssemakula, Shafik Bakaki, John Semazzi and Erisa Ssekisambu may be available for the reigning league champions.

Each goal at this tournament counts for a point.

Abdul Ssemugenyi, the tournament official mouth piece urges fans from all walks of lives to throng Kitende and witness the teams in action.

The football is entertaining. Come and watch your favourite players and teams in action
