Halftime: Jamaica 28-27 Uganda

Uganda She Cranes trail the Jamaica Sunshine girls by just a single goal at half time with a 28-27 scoreline in their second Pool E game of the Netball World Cup qualification round at the Allphones Arena.

Powered by a perfect shooting from GA Racheal Nanyonga (17) complemented by GS Peace Proscovia (10) the unchanged and spirited She Cranes have matched the fourth ranked Sunshine Girls.

Jamaica, the world number four was the better side in the first quarter and the reverse was true in the second quarter against the 14th ranked Uganda, the only country in the first eight ranked outside the top 8 countries.

Jamaica’s technical bench called for three changes from the side that lost to New Zealand with Jhaniele Fowler-Reid (GS), Ann Kay Griffiths (GA) Nicole Dixon coming in at Center and Paula Thompson moved to WD.

First quarter ended 16-12 in favour of the Sunshine Girls from Jamaica who had managed to score 16 goals off 18 attempts, a percentage of 89 and Uganda had 86 % after scoring 12 goals off 14 attempts.

Jhaniele Fowler-Reid, nick-named the Sky-Scrapper for her incredible height has been a total bully for the Uganda’s Goal Defender, Florence Nannyonga. Fowler-Reid has dominated the circle with her height advantage over Florence Nanyonga and finished the first half with 23 goals off 25 attempts

Going into the second half of the game with Jamaica having a goal advantage will definitely present an even closer half for the two countries as they chase qualification.
