Uganda’s seed two David Oringa, will be be among the many players to contest for the lucrative Kenya Open tennis championships at the Nairobi Club in Kenya this week that starts from August 17-22.

Oringa, will be one of the several Ugandan players who will be vying for the overall crown that was last year won by US based Kenyan tennis player Ismael Changawa.

The towering Ugandan tennis player goes into this tournament vying to emulate Uganda’s top seed Mugabe, who in 2013 who completed a treble in this event that is hosted by the Kenya Tennis Association.

This year’s tournament has players from Kenya(hosts), Rwanda, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Uganda and Japan. Mugabe will be missing out at the Kenya Open as he continues his quest to earn more points on the ITF/Futures circuit in Cairo, Egypt.

The East African tennis community and fraternity will miss Rwanda’s tennis great Jean Claude Gasigwa,(RIP), who was a consistent participant at this tournament.

Notable players that are taking part include Changawa, Zambian Edgar Kazemba, Fazal Mohammed Khan. In the ladies category Shufa Changawa, will be seeking back to back crowns, but will have to be at her very best against Caroline Oduor, the evergreen Evelyn Otula, Burundi’s Sada Nahimana, Sakina Nshimirimana and UK based Nikita Dawda.
