Fast rising Altona Swim Club has introduced two new sports activities on it’s running sports calendar recently they are Altona Sports Ambassadors Day that will be held every 3rd Saturday of the month and the Altona Sports Community Day that will be held 4 times in the year.
“He have introduced these new sports activities on our calendar to help people in our society and teach them sports in the community,” Erick Kisero, one of the founders of Altona swim club and foundation said. “The new activities will have our elite swimmers, coaches of the club teach people swimming at various schools in Kampala and at our home base here at Centenary Park.”
The Centenary based swim club is one of the leading clubs in the country and has featured in several national swimming competitions and galas organised by Uganda Swimming Federation.
The Sports Ambassadors Days will see the club’s elite swimmers and coaches going to teach swimming at various schools in the country that have swimming pools and also teach life-saving.
“For the moment we will emphasis swimming and then we shall venture into the others sports that we are involved in,” Kisero added. “It’s part of us giving back to our society and also promoting sports and identifying potential talent.”
The Sports Community will be officially launched on November 21 at Ache Havana swimming pool at Centenary Park and will be free of charge for the public.
