Gor Mahia FC 0-0 AFC Leopards (Match called off due to crowd troubles)

The biggest game in the Kenya Premier League pitting rivals Gor Mahia FC and AFC Leopards had a premature end thanks to crowd violence.

The two sides were locked at 0-0 after 65 minutes when referee Rafael Nduati awarded a penalty to Gor Mahia after AFC Leopards’ Jackson Saleh appeared to have handled the ball in the forbidden area.

No sooner had Meddie Kagere who had earlier had a goal disallowed for offside taken the penalty than Ingwe fans started throwing objects towards the pitch.

This forced fans and officials to run off the pitch for safety and anti-riot police fired teargas in order to calm the situation with the match being halted for over half an hour.

The situation failed to calm and the game was called off with the KPL set to give a ruling on the match although it is more likely that Gor Mahia will be awarded the three points.
