Dutch football legend, Patrick Kluivert arrived this morning in the country in a surprise visit to Uganda that is being organised by Great Lakes Safaris.
On arrival this morning the Former Ajax, Barcelona and Newcastle striker was received at Entebbe International Airport by the Chief Executive Officer of Great Lakes Safaris Amos Wekesa and other Dutch nationals.
According to his hosts Great Lakes Safaris, the Former Dutch international is supposed to meet the President of Uganda, he is also expected to meet FUFA officials and the national team the Cranes and also tour Uganda’s national parks.
He has meet the Prime Minister of Uganda Dr Rukahana Rugunda and has promised to build a football academy.
Kluivert played for the Dutch national team from 1994 to 2004, and with 40 goals from 79 appearances was their highest goalscorer until surpassed by Robin van Persie in 2013.
He was selected for three European Championships and the 1998 FIFA World Cup, and was the joint top scorer at Euro 2000 where he scored 5 times. In 2004, he was named in the FIFA 100, a list of the 125 greatest living footballers chosen by Pele’ as part of FIFA’s centenary observances.
