The inaugural 3000M Common Wealth Steeplechase champion, Dorcus Inzikuru is among those former sports personalities who have openly expressed interest in politics.

Inzikuru picked the nomination forms with a dream to represent the youth of Northern Uganda in the country’s legislative assembly.

The 2005 3000M Steeplechase World Champions and Common Wealth gold medalist (2006) boldly believes she has the impetus to make the parliamentary grade;

I want to represent the youth in parliament and I have the ability to represent the views of the youth people from Northern Uganda

Perhaps, Kawowo Sports has established Inzikuru is three years older past the 30 year limit that aspiring youth members of parliament members have to meet.

Now 33 years old, Inzikuru joins other former famous sports sportsmen in Uganda and the world over to join active politics.

In Uganda, boxer, Justin Jjuuko, another former common wealth gold medalist tried to contest for the parliamentary seat in the Masaka constituency although he was unsuccessful.

Globally, heavy weight boxer, Manny Pacquiao casts the true image of the sportsman turned politician.

Pacquiao is a member of parliament in the Philippines representing the district of Sarangani

David Isabirye is a senior staff writer for Kawowo Sports where he covers most of the major events.
