Maroons FC Vs Soana FC – Prisons Grounds, Luzira @4pm Live on Azam TV
Ahead of their league clash with Maroons FC on Tuesday at Luzira, Soana FC coach, Charles Ayiekho has described his opponents as unlucky so far in the campaign.
Maroons have lost their two opening games in the division but Ayiekho who admits is a big fan of the club says this doesn’t make them a weak side and thus expects it tough come Tuesday.
“When you look at the two games they have lost this season, I think it’s a bit of being unlucky,” started Ayiekho. “Against Express FC, they took the lead and then conceded late against Sadolin Paints. In both games, they were in total control but results just didn’t go their way.”
Unlike Maroons, Soana head into the game in fine form despite losing their last game 3-1 at URA FC but ‘Mbuzi’ as famously known doesn’t think they are favourites.
I think they will be desperate to get their campaign started and that makes the game a tough one. I admire the way they play and their system of grooming players at a young age and this season, they seem to have added something new to their game; they can go physical which they lacked previously. Maybe, we have more maturity than they do in the squad.
In the aftermath of his side’s 1-0 loss to Sadolin Paints a week ago, Maroons Coach Asaph Mwebaze admitted that inexperience cost them but promised a better show in their next game.
We lacked a bit of maturity especially in attack. We failed to turn possession into goal scoring chances and we were punished by a tactically mature side. Its something we have to work on before our next fixture.
Maroons FC who find themselves languishing in relegation zone will have their hopes for three points in Hood Muliki and Patrick Kaddu in attack with Maxwell Okello and Ronald Orombi doing their thing in midfield.
For the visitors, Abdallah Nyanzi returns from injury while Steven Bengo is expected to start his first game after impressing when he came on against URA FC.
Mike Kabanda is expected to return to the starting eleven to partner skipper Timothy Musinguzi in defence while Francis Olaki will lead the hunt for goals.
Key Stat:
- The two sides played three friendlies in the pre-season campaign and they all ended in stalemates.
- Maroons FC are 15th on the 16 team log with no point from two games while Soana FC are 7th with five points having played two more games.
