Lweza FC 0-1 SC Villa

Godfrey Lwesibawa scored from 12 yards with 17 minutes to go as SC Villa beat 10-man Lweza FC 1-0 to earn their second season victory in a game that ended in tear gas at Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku.

The game began on a slow note and the first real threat came in 20 minutes when Francis Ssembatya nearly headed home from Hassan Kikoyo cross but Steven Odong collected.

Two minutes later, Karim Ndugwa who started his first game also had a great chance to put SC Villa ahead but headed wide from close range.

With two minutes to half time, Isaac Muleme also had an opportunity but shot direct at goalie Salim Sowedi.

SC Villa Coach Antonio Flores made an instant change introducing Ambrose Kirya for Paul Mbowa but it was Lweza who showed more glimpses of hope of getting a goal.

Ssembatya and Kikoyo all came close but were denied by poor finishing and they were punished for not taking their chances when referee Ali Bakisula pointed to the spot as he judged Ibrahim Kiyemba to have fouled Umar Kasumba who had replaced Isaac Muleme in the area.

Lweza players protested but there was no change of mind and Lwesibawa slotted home past Sowedi despite guessing the right way.

The game nearly ended as Lweza fans threw objects to the pitch in protest but play later continued as they were calmed down though anti-riot police nearly fired teargas.

In the 88th minute, ex-SC Villa and Partizan Belgrade defender Nestroy Kizito was sent off for a challenge on Kasumba.

Kizito; who had earlier been booked for protesting a decision given against him by first assistant Samuel Kayondo despite the referee having other ideas earned his second booking.

There was no change of the score line at the final whistle but police had to disperse Lweza fans who were not satisfied by the referee’s performance.

The win lifts SC Villa to 7th on the log while Lweza remain at the base of the table with no point.
